The online bidding process is an easy means to bid and buy goods on auction. The following will explain the auction procedure in full.
Before you start bidding:
1) You will need to register before you will be allowed to place a bid. Please remember your username and password for future use.
2) VERY IMPORTANT: An Auctioneers fee of 15% (incl. VAT) is payable over and above your bid. i.e.: If you place a successful bid of R1000, an auctioneer's fee of R150 will be added and the total payable amount will be R1150.
3) You will be notified the following morning if your bid was successful or not.
4) Payment of goods: You will have to supply us with your credit card details before you can place a bid. If and when you were successful, the payable amount will automatically be credited to your account.
5) All purchased goods must be removed within 24 hours from the auction. If you cannot collect, please arrange delivery with our transport department.
6) Please ensure that you have read our "Terms and Conditions".
We have two means of bidding online:
- Commission Bid
- Telephone Bid
1. Commission Bid
A commission bid is the highest amount you are willing to pay for a specific item and therefore the bid amount acts as a ceiling amount. The auctioneer's assistant will bid on your behalf for that specific item until the specified amount is reached. When your bid amount is exceeded the bid will go to next bidder. If the previous highest bid is less than your bid, the product will be sold to you at the lower amount. You will be notified the next morning if your bid was successful or not.
Example - A commission bid of R1000 is placed on an item:
a. Bidding exceeds R 1000 and product sold to next highest bidder at R1200. Bid is lost.
b. Previous highest bid is R 600; product is sold to you at the next higher bid of R700.
2. Telephone Bid
A telephone bid means that the auctioneer's assistant will give you a call just before your specified item is coming up for auction. The assistant will guide you through the bidding process while the item is on auction. The assistant will ask you continuously if you want to continue bidding. You will be able to hear the bidding as it proceeds. As soon as you want to stop bidding, you inform the assistant and he will withdraw you from the bidding procedures. You will know immediately if you were successful or not.
